Social Media has been, or should I say is a great way to reach a lot of people. In the case of Facebook, a lot of targeted people. But, with a properly placed press release will not only give you a great flow of publicity but a good series of much desired and sought after back links.
Generating publicity and getting you and your company can create a great source of business leads and referrals for your partners. I’ve developed a list of 3 great areas in which you could, why you could create a press release and a reason for anyone to pay attention.
Again, positive attention is what you and your company are truly desiring.
Product and Services
- A new product or product line
- A new service or service line
- When you enhance a product or new feature.
Business and Financing
- When a new contract is won or received
- An acquisition or merger
- Investment or an IPO
Institutional
- Changes – new hires, promotions, reorganization
- New facilities or locations
- Sales or Divestment of divisions
There are several other great ideas to get on to the public, ie. future clients ranging from case studies, charitable functions, progress reports and awards received by either company or employees. If there is a reason to be proud of it then there is a reason to tell the world about it.
Some of the best uses of Press Releases have been used by real estate professionals for years. I see it every Sunday in the business section of the paper. Real estate agent Jane Smith has moved from broker A to broker B. It is a great form of publicity and a great way to let people know what is going on with you and your company.
I, almost, hate to say it this way but people tend to love gossip and they want to know what is going on with everyone. Like the old lady on Bewitched. She always had to know what was going on with all of the neighbors.
The best thing you can control mostly what the public sees, and press releases are a great way to do that. You may not control what goes out on Yelp! or Foursquare. Yes, you can answer that content whether it be positive or negative, but a press release is nearly 100% within your control.
You decide where it goes, what channels your message goes out on and even the frequency. In my next post, I’ll discuss areas in which are a good start to get your message out. Any questions, please contact me or leave a comment down below.
